How to Get a Temporary Library Card to Use Online Services

Due to the Library closure during the COVID-19 epidemic, we will be offering temporary library cards that will allow new patrons to check out and download eBooks, Audio Books, e-Magazines, and stream Videos via the Ohio Digital Library.  These library cards will expire after 60 days, at which time you will need to get a regular library card at the Library

To get a temporary card, click on the Catalog menu at the top of the page, then click on the “Sign Up For a  Library Card” button and fill out the application.  The resulting library card number and pin may be used to access all online library resources.

To check out and download eBooks, Audio Books, and e-Magazines on a tablet or phone, go to your device’s app store and install the Libby app.  Choose Logan County Libraries, then enter your new library card number and pin.  Be sure to review the setup options by clicking the Libby icon in the top right corner within the app.  When you check out an item you can download and read it right on your tablet or phone.

If you have a Kindle e-Reader or Tablet, you can check items out in Libby or on the Ohio Digital Library web page, and tell it to download as a Kindle book.  It will transfer control to Amazon.com where you will log in and click “Get Kindle Book”.  It will appear as a borrowed item in your Amazon library and when you sync your e-Reader it will appear with your other Kindle books.

To view streaming video, go to the Ohio Digital Library web page, check out your video and watch it in your browser.

If you are ready to apply for your card right now, click “Sign Up For a Library Card” and fill out the application!
